Honorary Trial Orders

The LCA has established honorary trial and appellate orders within the society that recognize Fellows who have tried cases and/or made appellate arguments at several accomplished levels.  Fellows who qualify for the different levels may choose to become a member, called Barrister, of any trial order for which they qualify and, if qualified for Certus, both a trial order and Certus.

Order of Centurions

The Order of Centurions is comprised of Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America who have tried to verdict one hundred or more jury trials in trial courts of record.

Order of Justitia

The Order of Justitia is comprised of Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America who have tried to verdict jury and/or by bench trial in trial courts of record and/or arbitrated to decision, or a combination thereof, one hundred cases.

Order of Juris

The Order of Juris is comprised of Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America who have tried to verdict at least fifty jury and/or bench trials in trial courts of record.

Order of Veritas

The Order of Veritas is comprised of Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America who have tried to verdict at least twelve jury and/or bench trials in trial courts of record. For qualification purposes, the Veritas order may also include any combination of trials and appellate arguments described for the Certus order below that total twelve trials and/or appellate arguments.

Order of Certus

The Order of Certus is comprised of Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America who have made at least three oral arguments before state appellate courts or Canadian Federal or Provincial Courts of Appeal and/or two oral arguments before the United States Courts of Appeals and/or one oral argument before the United States Supreme Court or the Supreme Court of Canada.
